Easy Tricks for Pulling off the Prettiest Fall Tablescape

How ToParty DecorFall
I recently hosted a luncheon with the fab HomeGoods team set against the beauty of Claudette in NYC – a restaurant at the tippy top of my design favorites list. At the lunch, I shared ideas on how to add the coziness of Fall to a dinner party with friends and family using an unexpected color palette and tablescape. We were inspired by gorgeous Fall colors and details minus the traditional orange, pumpkins and gourds. Instead, we opted for a blush pink that reminded me of the sunset viewed from my own backyard. And with a few key tips and easy accessories, I'm telling you this look is a cinch to pull off.

Don't be Afraid to think outside the Color Palette Box

Let your color palette come from your world. We were inspired by the blushy pinks of a fall sunset. And in turn opted out of the usual color suspects and the result is gorgeous. Blush, Deep Red and layers of warm neutrals.

Infuse Your Surroundings with Accents

Shelves are a great place to add Fall inspired decor. Think vases, bowls, boxes and other knick knacks all in warm Fall tones. Don't have shelving? Coffee tables, mantels and sideboards are also the perfect landing spots for accent pieces.

An unexpected Place Card

Use frames to let people know where to sit. Not only are they such a pretty addition to the table but they can be repurposed time and again or even sprinkled throughout your home later.

Make it Cozy

Throws and pillows are a great way to bring warmth and coziness to the space and an easy way to change up your colors to embrace the season.

Accent with Ribbon

Ribbon is a great, casual but oh so pretty way to wrap your flatware. I use this trick all the time and it never gets old. I purchased this ribbon years ago at a flea market and it’s still one of my favorites – I’ve used it over and over again in different ways as my family has grown!

Lighting is everything

Make sure the lighting in your space is cozy and relaxing yet bright enough for people to see what they're eating. It's a fine balance but adds so much to your party if done right.

Worth the Splurge

Flowers can make or break a table. Splurging on gorgeous blooms is worth every scent. Make those arrangements shine with the help of your favorite florist.

Make Housewares Serve Double Duty

Think about how different housewares can serve multiple purposes. Cheeseboards can add depth and dimension to your table runner, cake stands can be used in varying heights with seasonal fruit piled on top to create a gorgeous centerpiece, pitchers can hold candles or flowers. Those items that you probably already have in your home can add another layer to your tablescape.

A Sweet Takeaway

Don't forget a sweet takeaway for guests. Even a simple homemade goodie goes a million miles in the best hostess ever department.
